THE WORLD CONGRESS:


212 member federations with a maximum of two delegates per federation
meet every four years. The Congress adopts the General Bye Laws and the Official Basketball Rules.

THE CENTRAL BOARD:
20 members and three ex-officio members meet twice yearly. The Board establishes the Internal Regulations and assigns the organisation of all World Championships. 

THE PERMANENT INTERNATIONAL COMMISSIONS:

Technical Commission:
Responsible for proposing changes to the Official Basketball Rules and the training of referees.
• President: Mr. Valdu Suurkask, Estonia

Commission for International Competitions
Responsible for the study of regulations for international competitions and the world calendar competitions.
• President: Mr. Ruben Rabano, Argentina

Commission for Women’s Basketball
Responsible for women’s basketball worldwide.
• President: Ms. Yannick Souvré, France 

Commission for Youth Basketball
Responsible for the development of younger age of basketball players. Commission for Legal Matters and Eligibility.
• President: Mr. Jim Tooley, USA

Commission for Legal Matters
Responsible for the proposal of the development of the General Bye-Laws and the Internal Regulations. Applies regulations governing the eligibility and national status of players.
 
• President: Mr. Kenneth Madsen, Australia.    

Appeals’ Commission
Responsible for hearing appeals against decisions of FIBA and arbitrating disputes within the world of basketball if FIBA is not directly involved.

THE COUNCILS:

Finance Council

Studies means assuring FIBA’s financial resources and establishes the financial report, together with the Treasurer of FIBA.
• President: Mr. Richard Baillif, Switzerland

Medical Council
Consultative body for all medical matters, including doping control.
• President: Dr. Jacques Huguet, France

Council for Basketball for Persons with a Disability
Body in charge of the worldwide development of basketball for persons with a disability.
• President: Mr. Jan Berteling, Netherlands

Media Council
Establishes guidelines and standard requirements for the infrastructure of media services at FIBA events, considering in particular the expertise and wishes of the different media.
• President: Mr. Noah Klieger, Israel

W.A.B.C. - World Association of Basketball Coaches
Promotes collaboration between coaches worldwide and organises technical clinics.
• President: Mr. Dusan Ivkovic, Serbian & Montenegro

I.W.B.F. - International Wheelchair Basketball Federation
Supervises and governs wheelchair basketball throughout the world.
• President: Ms Maureen Orchard, Canada

I.C.D.R.B. - International Centre for the Documentation and Research of Basketball

The ICDRB, Pedro Ferrándiz Foundation, aims at promoting the scientific study of basketball in all its aspects.
