Since winning the NBL Rookie of the Year title in 1992, Cameron has emerged as perhaps the dominant player, in the national competition. His combination with Tall Black coach Tab Baldwin was instrumental in Auckland winning five titles in six years and in 2001/02, he has continued that record with the Waikato Titans. Between 1992-2002, Cameron was in the NBL All-star Five seven times, won five Kiwi MVP titles, five Outstanding Kiwi Forward titles, and one Outstanding Forward title.



Originally selected for the Tall Blacks in 1994, he co-captained his team to the 2000 Sydney Olympics and took sole possession of the leadership in the victory over Australia in 2001. Last year, Cameron showed the world his full range of skills by carrying New Zealand to the world championship semifinals, often taking over the game during “money time” in the closing minutes with the result on the line.

His prowess was recognised when he was voted to the tournament team, the only non-NBA player in the all-star lineup. His captaincy was also recognised at the Halberg Awards, where he received the SPARC Leadership Award. A clever player in the post, he also has a lethal outside shot and is an unparalleled exponent of the “point forward” position. Has played professionally in England, where he helped the Chester Jets to all four major trophies in 2001-02. He will captain the NZ Breakers in their Australian NBL debut this season.
